At the September 15th Loudon County Commission Workshop I spoke on the issue of overdevelopment in the county.
The Commission has implemented strict rules regarding overdevelopment in the county, but there are other issues as well, such as the safety on road where development is already approved. On East Matlock Bend Road (SUBDIVISION PLAT FOR 74 LOTS, APPLICANT/PROPERTY OWNER CMH HOMES, TAX MAP 040, PARCELS 009.00 & 027.00, LOCATED MATLOCK BEND RD & RIVER RD, R-1 SUBURBAN RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT, DISTRICT 1, APPROXIMATELY 82 ACRES) there is an approved subdivision being built with the only entrance near a blind curve where schools buses and traffic have trouble staying in their lane and then they have a major unsafe switchback. When I spoke on this I was confronted by Commissioner Randolph who said that if they had placed the entrance (or an additional entrance) on River Road the City might annex it and build more houses. He had no support for this assumption. The safety of our children is at risk but the Commissioner refused to address that issue, and instead tried to attack me for bringing up the issue.
