County Commission Meeting - 09/15/2025: Join the Discussion!
Not a lot of activity this week at the Workshop. One noteworthy item was a proposal to begin discussing allowing Loudon County citizens to discuss items not necessarily on the agenda. The Chairman suggested this might be in violation of TN State Statute 8-44-112, but from a common sense perspective the Chairman's comment seems short sighted, since I have never heard of anyone at the state capital telling anyone they could not allow the public to speak. More to come.
$600,000 Loan to Schools
Erin Rice, Budget Director, mentioned that she took the $600,000 loaned to the Schools for the new school projects out of the $35,000,000 bond, but the question remains why did the county have to float the School Board a loan, when they already have a hefty fund balance?

Unintended Consequences of New Development
Blake Moore brought a potentially dangerous condition related to the entrance of a new subdivision on East Matlock Bend Road to the Workshop meeting on September the 19th. Loudon County decided to put the only entrance near a dangerous curve and the only excuse given was that if they had put the entrance on River Road, which would have been on a much less traveled road and a straight road, Lenoir City might have tried to annex the subdivision at some point in the future. That makes no sense and I pray this decision does not come back to haunt us.
