Engage with our Citizens, Protect our Assets

Our County Commissioners get blinded by short sighted "shiny objects". Our citizens and our ancestors deserve better!

Our Youth Matter!

Two schools in District 1 had a D rating from the State of Tennessee and have had the highest student population growth of any school in our County. Why is this not being addressed?

We also have the lowest Math and English proficiency scores yet all we can hear from our commissioners is about their perceived need for $110,000,000 buildings elsewhere. Why?

Lawsuits

Chancellor McFarland has ruled against Loudon County in two recent lawsuits, suggesting we are ignoring planning and zoning regulations. The perception is that we are making up the rules as we go along.

The District 1 commissioners sit idly by while at least one other commissioner sinks us further into lost lawsuits and spending $500,000 given to lawyers for this fiscal year.

We need business leaders, not wild west gunslingers who keep getting embarrassed in court.

Parks and Rec

The new high school approved for the North end of the county is slated to cost $86,000,000, which is almost twice the state average for a new school.

The new athletic complex in Greenback is already $4,200,000 over budget.

Our Parks and Rec leaders need to be consulted and support to create sports and exercise facilities for ALL ages.

Budgeting and options are not a strong attribute in our leaders. Would it be appropriately to see options...like maybe creating more county wide options for our underpriviledged youth and seniors?

Our History

Loudon County has a rich history that is either not accessible or is hidden away in storage facilities.

I was involved in providing analytics for a new County Website that would have provide an online opportunity to share this history, but it was shot down at the last minute by short sighted politics.

We need to celebrate our legacy, not hide it. I propose we engage our county historians and find ways to scan relevant documents into our website and ensure our zoning protects what few historical buildings and records we have left.

Your Voice - Your Vote - Your Future

The County Commission Agenda?

I was told at a recent Loudon County Commission by a District 1 Commissioner that they only had to allow us to speak on issues they put on the agenda, and they did not have to respond. Unfortunately THAT is the problem!

  • Where is our Long Term Budget?
  • Where is the plan for schools other than the new high school?
  • Why is County Commission so opposed to conducting unbiased studies before spending millions or dollars?
  • Why do our District 1 Commissioners never hold public information meetings?
  • Why do we not conduct a wage study to ensure our best county employees are paid fairly and on par with comparable markets?
  • Why do we spend Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars suing our own cities?
  • Why is the County Commission so opposed to working proactively with the Economic Development agency whose purpose is to bring in high paying jobs for our county residents?
  • Unfortunately there are always more questions than answers and unless our concerns are on the Commission agendas we are ignored.
